Offshore fishing out of Jensen Beach has been lively this week, with plenty of rod-bending action just a few miles out. Crevalle Jack have been making their presence known in big schools, especially around bait pods and current breaks. These fish may not be table fare for everyone, but they more than make up for it with their brute strength and aggressive hits—making them a favorite for light tackle and topwater fans alike. Anglers are finding the Jacks cruising near the surface, busting bait and creating an all-out frenzy. Throwing surface plugs, spoons, or live pilchards has been producing consistent hookups. Keep your eyes peeled for birds working the area—where there’s bait, the jacks are not far behind. The action has been best during early morning hours and around the tide changes. Elsewhere offshore, there’s a steady mix of kingfish, bonita, and the occasional mahi making an appearance in deeper waters. Trolling the edge or drifting live bait near reef lines has brought in a few quality fish. With water temps stable and bait holding strong, now’s a great time to hit the bluewater and enjoy the summer bite.
